Jimmy Kimmel Hammers Republicans Who Criticize His Call For Kids To Have Health Care

ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel made Republicans look even worse on health care with a sarcastic response to conservative criticism of his call for kids to have health care.

Video:

Kimmel read some of the conservative news headlines criticizing him for saying that children should have health care and said, “I can not count the number of times that I have been called an out of touch Hollywood elitist creep this week, which I have to say, I kind of appreciate because when I was a kid we had to drink the powdered milk because we couldn’t afford the liquid. Our orange juice came frozen out of a can and it would squeeze out. My father on the rare occasion that we took a family trip would hide the dog in the back of the car then smuggle it into the motel room to avoid paying the two dollar pet fee so my dream was to become an out of touch Hollywood elitist and I guess it came true. And I would like to apologize for saying that children in America should have health care. It was insensitive. It was offensive, and I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”

Kimmel played Newt Gingrich’s criticism of his comments, and then explained how health care really works for people and families with a child that has chronic or”preexisting condition.”

The rest of Kimmel segment was devoted to a conversation with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) that demonstrated how far from apart from the reality the House passed bill, Trump’s promises, and the potential Senate bill is.

Cassidy admitted that the House-passed bill wasn’t going to pass the Senate and that this Senate is focused on a bill that helps people maintain their coverage through programs that the House bill gutted.

Jimmy Kimmel didn’t back down to right wing smears and pressure. It’s common sense that kids and babies should have health care, and every Republican attack on this common sense goal pushes them more out of the American mainstream and pounds another nail into their political coffin.
