Millions of people are marching today for science. Police estimate 40,000 people marched in Chicago, an absolutely breathtaking sight:
The numbers marching in New York City are estimated by the NYPD to be 20,000. There were 20,000 more marching through Philadelphia today. Another 10,000 gathered in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Reuters reports at least 15,000 gathered on the Mall in Washington, D.C., and that doesn’t count the numbers who marched. Watch courtesy of BuzzFeed’s Azeen Ghorayshi:
Donald Trump claimed God stopped the rain for his inauguration. That didn’t happen. It rained. It probably didn’t keep the crowds away from an event nobody wanted to attend anyway, but the rain certainly hasn’t kept crowds away from Science March DC, as PFAW reports.
Things were looking no better for Trump on the other coast, where organizers estimated a crowd of 50,000, which does not appear far off the mark as you can see from this photo from LA:
And these are just a few of the cities in the United States, let alone those hundreds of marches in the rest of the world.
Donald Trump is less popular than science. The American people rejected his candidacy on Election Day and they rejected his inauguration. Now they have rejected his rejection of science and global warming. And they have done it in overwhelming numbers.
