Jon Ossoff Shows Why Republicans Could Be Facing A Big Defeat In Georgia Special Election

During an interview on MSNBC, the Democratic candidate in the House special election in Georgia, Jon Ossoff, showed exactly why Democrats are so excited and Republicans are deeply concerned about defeat next week.

Video:

Reason number one that Republicans are worried in an era of Trump driven negativity, Ossoff sounds positive, “Fundamentally, my campaign is a positive one about a vision for our local economic development, and about values that bring people in our community together instead of division and fear.”

It was Ossoff’s answer on who is currently leading the Democratic Party that stood out, “What I know is that folks in the community here are stepping up to lead in a way that they never have before, so perhaps the leaders of the Democratic Party right now are the grassroots organizers who are getting it together and stepping up to win campaigns like the one we’re fighting here in Georgia.”

Ossoff’s message mirrored the one that is coming out of the new DNC leadership, and House and Senate Democratic leadership. The reason why Republicans are so concerned about the special elections and 2018 midterms is that Democratic candidates like Ossoff are going back to grassroots local politics. Ossoff handled all of the questions about national politics really well, but what jumps out at observers is that Democrats are recruiting younger candidates who are focused on grassroots party building.

Jon Ossoff isn’t running against Donald Trump. He is running on a positive local message that is the opposite of the political climate that has been fostered by Trump.

The Democratic candidate is the fresh face with the uplifting message, which is why Republicans could be looking at an outright defeat in Georgia’s 6th district House special election.
