Republicans Are Hiding Their Plan To Take Away Healthcare From 10-20 Million Workers

The Republican Obama replacement plan doesn’t just repeal Obamacare and gut Medicaid. The plan would also cause 10-20 million US workers to lose their health insurance from their employers.

The Federalist reported that Republicans are reworking their Obamacare replacement bill because the CBO originally found that their plan would take away health care from US workers, “Based on my conversations with multiple sources close to the effort, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) had indicated to congressional staff that the prior House framework could see at least 10 million, and potentially up to 20 million, individuals losing employer-sponsored health insurance. Further, CBO stated that that House framework, even after including a refundable tax credit for health insurance, would not cover many more people than repealing Obamacare outright.”

On top of the 20 million people who are going to lose their health insurance under Obamacare repeal, there are another 10-20 million who stand to lose their health care under the Republican scheme because the GOP intends to tax health care plans. The Republican plan to make the tax credit to buy health insurance age-related will give employers motivation to drop their coverage.

The Republican legislation harms the employer-provided health insurance system and will cost people their insurance who don’t get their coverage through the exchange or the Medicaid expansion.

I suspect that most Americans aren’t aware that the health insurance that they get from their employer is in jeopardy. Up until Trump took office, Republicans had effectively mischaracterized Obamacare as some sort of health insurance that people bought. The reality is that the Affordable Care Act provided protections for consumers no matter where they got their insurance, and those protections are under threat from Republicans in Congress.

Republicans are hiding the ugly truth that they are coming after employee health care.
