James Comey Calls Trump Wiretap Claims False As White House FBI Firewall Is Collapsing

FBI Director James Comey asked the Justice Department to publicly reject President Trump’s claims that Obama wiretapped him. When the Justice Department did nothing, Comey’s statement that the President’s allegation is false ended up in the press.

The New York Times reported, “The F.B.I. Director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement. Mr. Comey, who made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter, has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down the claim because it falsely insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.”

Since the President and his White House don’t seem to understand, the FBI telling the country that the President Of The United States has just lied to them is not a good thing.

Picking a fight with the FBI to defend the President’s fact-free allegations is also not good.

Comey has been heavily criticized by members of Congress for withholding information from them about the role Russia played in the presidential election. FBI Director Comey, intentionally or not, has been a part of the Trump firewall on the Russia scandal, but if Comey decides to turn over everything, the entire Trump administration will have a very big problem.

When the FBI director is basically calling the President a liar, the dam is about to break.

The FBI isn’t going to let Donald Trump throw them under the bus.
