America Is Already Turning Against Trump As 61% Demand Replacement With Obamacare Repeal

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 09:47 pm

Trump and Republicans are playing with fire as a new poll shows that large majorities of Americans are demanding that Republicans pass a replacement bill immediately after Obamacare repeal. If Republicans don’t repeal and replace, President-elect Trump is going to be blamed.

According to the Morning Consult/Politico poll:
The majority (61%) say the ACA should not be repealed until there is a new plan for replacing the law. That being said, 59% want ACA repealed in some way or another, while 35% want it left as is or expanded….41% approve of the ACA, while 52% disapprove of the law. 58% say ACA has made healthcare more expensive, 17% say less expensive, and 14% say there has not been much of a change either way.

….

Nearly two-thirds of voters, 66 percent, favor keeping a provision that prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage to patients with pre-existing conditions. Sixty-three percent of voters want to keep the requirement that insurance companies allow policyholders to keep their children on their plans until age 26. Fifty-six percent think subsidies for low-income Americans to buy insurance should stay, and the same percentage wants to keep federal funding for states to expand their Medicaid programs.

The American people want Obamacare with a new name and lower premiums. The American people are going to quickly turn on Trump and the Republican Party if they pass a repeal without a replacement. The split personality disorder that voters have expressed on the ACA and Obamacare have existed since the law took effect.

Republicans sold the ACA as Obamacare, and the American people want Obamacare gone. The problem is that large majorities want to keep everything that the ACA does.

Trump and the Republicans are faced with the problem of how to repeal Obamacare while keeping Obamacare.

If Trump and the Republicans in Congress repeal Obamacare and replace it with nothing, the American people are going to angrily turn on Trump and his party. Trump promised immediate replacement of Obamacare. If Republicans don’t deliver, the president-elect will be blamed. Trump will try to blame Obama, but that won’t fly.

Repeal without replacement is a doomed strategy, as an enraged America isn’t in any mood cut Trump and the Congressional GOP any slack.
