With just a month to go until Donald Trump is officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, a large chunk of Americans already think the president-elect is on track to be “one of the worst” presidents.
According to a brand new Fox News poll, nearly one-third of Americans – 31 percent – already believe that Trump will be among the worst commanders-in-chief the country has ever had.
Overall, the poll found that a whopping 59 percent of the country thinks the incoming administration will fall on a scale somewhere between “average” and “worst” – hardly a sign of confidence as Trump prepares to take office next month.
To put it in context, when Barack Obama was elected to his first term in 2008, the same poll found that a combined 62 percent of Americans thought he would either be a “good” president or “one of the greatest.”
Adding fuel to the fire, a majority of Americans – 52 percent – believe that Trump lacks the temperament to be president, although that number has shown some improvement since the election, particularly since the the president-elect has spent much of his time in hiding.
The same percentage of respondents (52 percent) said that Trump is a “divider,” not a “uniter,” and a plurality – 46 percent – disapprove of his controversial cabinet choices.
To make matters worse for the thin-skinned president-elect, Hillary Clinton officially won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, or 2.1 percentage points.
There was no electoral wave that propelled Trump to the White House. He doesn’t have a so-called mandate to carry out his dangerous agenda. His campaign was not a movement.
Instead, he will enter office as one of the least popular incoming presidents in history.
