Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) told President-elect Donald Trump to get the Wall Street insiders off of his transition team, or she will oppose him every step of the way for the next four years.
In a letter to Trump, Warren wrote:
Sen. Warren’s letter makes it clear that Trump will either keep his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” or he will have to deal with an enemy in the US Senate who is growing increasingly more powerful by the day.
Warren is not going to allow Trump to pull what is amounting to a political bait and switch. Trump promised an administration free of lobbyists and special interests, but he filled his transition team with members of the corporate special interest class.
Trump and Warren sparred throughout the 2016 election, but progressives like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are sounding the alarm that the Trump administration could be worse than imagined for those who want their government to be handed back to the people.
Donald Trump is a special interest, so the idea that he would take power and combat his own kind was always laughable at best. Trump is doing what most thought he would do, which is why Sen. Warren should be ready to oppose Trump every step of the way for the next four years.
