Payback Time: Democrats And Liberals Plan Total Trench Warfare Against Trump

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 09:32 pm

Republicans obstructed President Obama for eight years, and now Democrats and progressives are planning to pay back the GOP with a trench warfare campaign against Donald Trump.

Politico reported the meeting of the Democracy Alliance:

The meeting is the first major gathering of the institutional left since Trump’s shocking victory over Hillary Clinton in last week’s presidential election, and, if the agenda is any indication, liberals plan full-on trench warfare against Trump from Day One. Some sessions deal with gearing up for 2017 and 2018 elections, while others focus on thwarting President-elect Trump’s 100-day plan, which the agenda calls “a terrifying assault on President Obama’s achievements — and our progressive vision for an equitable and just nation.”

Democrats remember all of the obstructionist tactics that Republicans used to block their agenda during the Obama years and come January 2017; it’s payback time. Republicans won the election, and they may control both the House and the Senate, but they do not have the 60 votes needed to pass legislation in the Senate.

Some of the Republican Party’s favorite tricks will now come back to haunt them as party line votes will be the rule in the Senate, Democrats will be using Senatorial holds to block nominees and bills from coming to the floor, and outside using the reconciliation process and requiring a simple majority for judicial nominees, there is very little that Republicans will be able to accomplish legislatively.

The Democracy Alliance conference isn’t a pick me up meeting for the left. It is a serious strategy session. Trump is going to have to fight and claw for every inch of ground that he gains. The party that spent two terms going out of their way not to work with Obama is about to feel the revenge of Democrats.

Democrats are about to give Republicans a bitter taste of their own medicine.
