A new poll shows that undecided and third party leaning voters are breaking hard for Hillary Clinton as the clock winds down on the 2016 campaign.
According to CNN, Clinton inching very close to 50 percent of the vote not in a two-way race, which has been the norm, but in a four-way race that includes third party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein. The survey shows the Democratic nominee leadings Trump 49 to 44 percent among likely voters.
While Clinton’s margin is the same as CNN’s last poll, she continues to grow her support and inch closer to securing a majority of votes.
One big reason behind that movement appears to be the fact that supporters of Gary Johnson – many of them liberals who initially considered supporting him – have broken toward the Democratic nominee, likely a recognition that the Libertarian nominee is, in many ways, just as unfit as Trump. Since CNN’s last survey, Johnson’s support has collapsed by more than half – from 7 to 3 points.
In total, support for third-party candidates Johnson and Stein now only makes up a total of 5 percent of voters, according to CNN.
After three devastating debates for Donald Trump and a series of recent disqualifying moments, voters are beginning to recognize how big a threat he is to the United States.
Those who were previously undecided or considering supporting a third party candidate are now seeing that Hillary Clinton is the best chance to keep the unfit Republican nominee out of the White House and only candidate equipped to face our country’s challenges.
With about two weeks until Election Day, voters appear to be breaking toward the Democratic nominee as Trump unravels.
