Sen. Bernie Sanders unloaded on Donald Trump while campaigning for Hillary Clinton in the swing state of New Hampshire.
Video:
While campaigning for Hillary Clinton in Keene, NH. Sen. Sanders said:
Now, I want you all to remember that before Trump became a candidate for President Of The United States, he was a leader of the so-called “birther” movement, and let us be very clear about what the “birther” movement was about. It was not disagreeing with the president. Everyone has a right to do that. It was not whether you like the president or not. What it was was a racist attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the first African-American president in our history.
That is what it was.
And then you have Trump as a candidate calling our Latino brothers and sisters, people from Mexico, rapists and criminals. In a totally unconstitutional way suggesting that Muslims because of their religion should not be able to come into the United States.
And seemingly every day insulting women in one way or another. You know, I have in front of me, I literally do, the kinds of names and terms that he has used to describe women, but they are so disgusting that I’m not going to use them from this podium.
Candidates who run for office can disagree. That’s fine, but there has got to be at least a minimal threshold of decency before we take a candidate seriously, and that threshold has got to be that you are not a bigot trying to divide us up.
Sen. Sanders summed up every reason why Trump has repulsed millions of voters in the United States. Sanders was correct. Voters need to demand a minimal threshold of civil behavior from their presidential candidates.
Bernie Sanders didn’t hold back. He made a powerful argument for Hillary Clinton, but he also tore Donald Trump to bits. Trump is trying to make voters forget the bigoted statements that he has made and continues to make on a regular basis.
Bernie Sanders is campaigning for Hillary Clinton in part to make sure that voters never forget the ugliness of the option that the Republican Party is presenting to them as the next occupant of the Oval Office.
