The top Democrats on the House and Senate Intelligence Committees are warning that Russia is actively attempting to influence the presidential election for Donald Trump.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee said in a joint statement:
Based on briefings we have received, we have concluded that the Russian intelligence agencies are making a serious and concerted effort to influence the U.S. election.
At the least, this effort is intended to sow doubt about the security of our election and may well be intended to influence the outcomes of the election—we can see no other rationale for the behavior of the Russians.
We believe that orders for the Russian intelligence agencies to conduct such actions could come only from very senior levels of the Russian government.
We call on President Putin to immediately order a halt to this activity. Americans will not stand for any foreign government trying to influence our election. We hope all Americans will stand together and reject the Russian effort.
In other words, Comrade Don’s friends at the Kremlin are trying to get him elected president as part of a plan to install a friendly Putin puppet who will neutralize the US opposition to Russia’s aggressive expansion plans.
It is amazing that the Republican Party has gone from Mitt Romney warning that Russia is our greatest adversary to Donald Trump playing pattycake with Vlad Putin and telling the GOP what wonderful friends the Russians will make.
The Russians are definitely meddling in the US election. They are terrified of what an experienced Hillary Clinton will bring to the White House. They definitely want a soft minded stooge like Donald Trump who can be easily bought and rolled over leading the world’s only superpower.
This isn’t some plot of an old Cold War movie. It is a warning that Donald Trump’s pals are trying to interfere with the democratic process of a US presidential election. Beyond the circus and bluster, Donald Trump represents a very real threat to the national security of the United States of America.
