North Carolina Attorney General Urged To File Criminal Charges Against Trump

North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper is being urged to file criminal charges against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump after protesters were assaulted at his rally.

The Democratic Coalition Against Trump wrote to Cooper:

On Monday September 12, 2016, at a Donald J. Trump for President campaign rally in Asheville, NC, protesters in the crowd were assaulted by another rally attendee, as has been widely reported in today’s national news.

As these attacks were occurring, instead of encouraging his supporters to halt in any violent acts, Donald J. Trump commented on the event that had just unraveled, remarking “Is there any place more fun to be than a Trump rally,” and giving the “thumbs-up” hand sign while his supporters sang “hey hey hey good-bye.”

We are asking that the State Attorney General’s office consider filing criminal charges against Donald J. Trump for inciting a riot and disturbing the public, under the North Carolina General Statutes, specifically under Chapter 14, Article 36A.

Attorney General Cooper also happens to be the Democratic candidate who is currently leading the race for governor in North Carolina. Cooper is running as a family based Sunday school teaching Democrat who is pretty much the opposite of Donald Trump.

The odds of Cooper filing charges against the Republican nominee for president while running for governor are slim to none, but the letter is a strong reminder that Donald Trump’s incitement of violence is not going to go unnoticed.

Law enforcement is not going to be allowed to turn a blind eye to Trump’s behavior.

Time is running out on Trump, and pressure is being put on local and state officials to no longer tolerate the GOP nominee’s consistent incitement of violence.
