Sean Hannity Demands Hillary Clinton Rebuttal of Debunked Conservative Health Claims

Republicans continued their relentless attacks on Hillary Clinton’s health Monday with Donald Trump’s particular friend, Sean Hannity, demanding Hillary Clinton, who got a clean bill of health from her doctor last year, rebut already debunked claims about her health.

He wants her to prove all the invented stuff they say about her isn’t true.

What has got Hannity riled now is an old photo from this past winter published by The American Mirror, of Hillary Clinton slipping on some icy steps and requiring assistance.

Matt Drudge immediately posted it to Twitter, gaining it wider currency. We were treated to images of Trump easily ascending stairs while no matching images of Clinton, also easily ascending stairs, were posted.

Snopes has already taken a look at this claim and ruled that the Clinton photo “does not in itself indicate that Clinton is in poor health.”

That wasn’t enough for Hannity, who on his show Monday, in typically Republican fashion, insisted Clinton refute patently invented claims:

Watch courtesy of Media Matters for America:

Welcome back to Hannity. So an image of Hillary Clinton recently posted to the website The American Mirror is sparking new controversy for the Clinton campaign. The picture, which shows Hillary Clinton apparently needing assistance to climb a flight of stairs at a campaign stop back in February was picked up by The Drudge Report, which posted this headline over the weekend, detailing Hillary Clinton’s history with falls and speculating that the former Secretary of State could be experiencing a serious undisclosed medical condition. Earlier today we reached out to the Clinton campaign for a statement, and a spokesman told us that the Drudge Report is shameful, and anyone who buys that vitriol, including yours truly, is shameful as well, so shameful we are. Anyway, what was noticeably missing from the statement was any reference or rebuttal to the health issues that are alleged by Drudge and others.

CNN’s Brian Stelter, gave Drudge the same treatment he has given Trump, tweeting that,

Matt Drudge has been leading the charge. His obsession began during the Benghazi hearings, and in February was even taking about a “media cover-up” because, you know, Hillary Clinton coughed.

Evidently, that must mean she has the plague, or something. Because nobody ever coughs otherwise.

A coughing fit in January prompted Hannity mockery, with the Fox host saying, “I think I’ll send her some Pine Brothers cough drops […] She needs some, desperately.”

Breitbart, World Net Daily, and Red State have all joined in, eager to place the frontrunner at death’s door and as we saw yesterday, it’s just gotten uglier and uglier.

Appropriately enough, The Washington Post responded to this manufactured brouhaha with, “Armed with junk science and old photos, critics question #HillarysHealth.”

This ridiculous ploy smells a lot like Republican cries about why people aren’t talking about all the things that exist only in their heads. Well, we aren’t talking about it because it’s not true: you invented it. And Hillary Clinton no more has to refute invented claims about her health than Hannity does whatever suggestions I might make about an over-fondness for sheep, if you take my meaning.

The demanded rebuttal is contained in the pointed statement that both Drudge and Hannity are shameful. And if the American Mirror is not, as it claims, a reflection of “our times and culture” it is certainly a reflection of conservatism’s creepy obsession with Hillary Clinton’s health.
