The Real Reason Why Republicans Want To Ditch Trump: Clinton Bounce Doubles Trump’s

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 07:18 pm

Hillary Clinton is raising more money than Donald Trump, and her convention bounce was twice as big as the one gained by the Republican nominee.

Nate Silver found that Clinton got a bigger bounce than Trump, “There are some hints that Clinton’s post-convention lead over Trump will eventually settle in at about 7 percentage points, give or take a couple points. The biggest tip-off is that both the national polls and the state polls we’ve seen so far look similar to the ones we were seeing in June, when Clinton maintained a lead over Trump of about 7 points after wrapping up the Democratic nomination. Since Clinton and Trump were roughly tied after the GOP convention, a 7-point lead for Clinton would mean she’d gotten about a 7-point bounce, double the size of Trump’s.”

If Trump were leading in the polls after the two conventions, there would be no talk of Republicans hoping that Trump will step down or leave the race. With each new Trump controversy and bad poll, Republicans realize that they may not win with Donald Trump. In fact, they are openly worrying that Trump will drag the entire party down.

The Republican angst over Trump has nothing to do growing a conscience overnight, or finally getting a clue and doing what is right. Republicans are in a state of panic because their convention a chance to overtake Hillary Clinton in the polls and Trump blew it. The Republican nominee compounded the damage by stumbling from scandal to scandal since the Democratic convention ended.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has been able to spend the days since her convention ended campaigning largely uninterrupted. She is hitting swing states with her message, and mobilizing Democrats for November. Hillary Clinton has shown what a good candidate can do with a convention bounce. Clinton clearly has momentum as Republicans are completely distracted by the drama surrounding Donald Trump.
