Donald Trump has a stand by excuse for everything. His oh-so-subtle reason for not doing most network TV interviews, except for his favorite hiding place at Fox News, is that the media is “dishonest.”
Naturally because this is Donald Trump, he made this excuse after a month of ignoring most network requests other than Fox, a point made by Brian Stelter at CNNMoney:
At the rally on Monday afternoon, Trump said he is refusing to grant any interviews with CNN, calling the channel’s reporting dishonest, and saying Fox News has been better.
For more than a month, Trump has been appearing regularly on Fox and eschewing most other TV network interview requests.
This is like Putin only doing interviews with RT. Going to the heart of the propaganda machine to do an “interview” is hardly freedom of the press in action.
But Donald Trump defended his previous actions by declaring CNN is biased against him. You know, the place that employs his former campaign manager who is still getting money from Trump and signed a NDA that reportedly most likely includes a non-disparagement clause. So biased.
Meanwhile Donald Trump has hit Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for her “lack of transparency” because it’s been since December 4, 2015 since she has had a press conference. On this issue, Donald Trump is actually correct but he is the last person who should be throwing this stone, given that he treats the press like scapegoats during his “press conferences”, which end up being nothing more than monologues by Himself.
Trump has not done a hard-hitting interview, whereas Clinton went on Chris Wallace’s Fox News Sunday show for a tough interview, during which she managed to blow up Fox News’ Benghazi lie.
Donald Trump should go on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show. That would be the liberal equivalent of Chris Wallace’s Fox show. Morning Joe is certainly not.
No matter what, it is not the press’ fault that Donald Trump won’t talk to them except to ridicule and humiliate them. Donald Trump needs to man up and quit whining — at least for a day.
Donald Trump isn’t on CNN because he can’t and or won’t answer questions. In his phony press conferences, Trump can pretend to answer with a non-answer while making fun of the reporter for asking, which is a win with his base. That doesn’t work without his audience, so interviews are out unless they are on the Republican PR network of Fox News.
