Ever since a 2011 shooting in Tuscon, Arizona left her with life-altering injuries, Gabby Giffords has had difficulty speaking. On Wednesday night’s gun violence portion of the Democratic National Convention, the former congresswoman had no trouble at all.
With her husband Mark Kelly by her side, Giffords took the stage to a standing ovation and declared her enthusiastic support for Hillary Clinton.
Video:
Giffords said, “Hillary is tough. Hillary is courageous. She will fight to make our families safer. In the White House, she will stand up to the gun lobby. That’s why I’m voting for Hillary. Speaking if difficult for me, but come January I want to say these two words: ‘Madam President’.”
It was another special moment at a DNC that has been full of them.
