Actresses America Ferrera and Lena Dunham spoke at the Democratic convention and did a better job of taking on Donald Trump than all of the Republican candidates combined.

There were jokes that weren’t jokes:
Dunham: Hi, I’m Lena Dunham and according to Donald Trump my body is probably like a two.
Ferrara: And I’m America Ferrera, and according to Donald Trump, I’m probably a rapist.
Dunham: But America, you’re not Mexican.
Ferrara: And President Obama isn’t Kenyan, Lena, but that doesn’t stop Donald.
Dunham: We know what you’re thinking. Why should you care what some television celebrity has to say about politics?
Ferrara: And we feel the same way, but he is the Republican nominee.
How is it that two actors did a better job of taking out Trump than the entire Republican Party? The answer is that the celebrities didn’t have to pretend to ignore reality because they were afraid of losing primary votes.
Trump was able to hijack the Republican Party because his opposition was too afraid to stand up.
Democrats aren’t afraid.
