Cory Booker Echoes Barack Obama In Rousing Convention Speech

In 2004, Barack Obama delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention that sent him on a meteoric rise to the presidency just four years later.

Tonight, another star by the name of Cory Booker was born, and his future in the Democratic Party looks brighter than ever after an optimistic and rousing address to the DNC.

Video:

“When we are divided we are weak, we decline, yet when we are united we are strong,” Booker said.

“Let us declare, so that generations yet unborn can hear us, ‘We are the United States of America, our best days are ahead of us! And together with Hillary Clinton as our president — We. Will. Rise,” he added to raucous applause.

Booker was able to weave his message of hope with valid criticisms of Donald Trump .

“We’ve watched Donald Trump, our children, our daughters, our nieces, and grandkids have watched him calling women women degrading names: ‘dog,’ ‘fat pig,’ ‘disgusting,’ animal,'” Booker said. “It is a twisted hypocrisy when he treats other women in a manner he would never, ever accept from another man speaking about his daughters or his wife.”

Viewers and journalists were quick to draw parallels between the New Jersey senator’s speech on Monday night and Obama’s address in 2004.

In one speech, Cory Booker was able to bring an optimism about America that not one speaker at the RNC even attempted to do – and set himself on a path to a bright future in the Democratic Party.
