President Obama Slams Donald Trump During International Trip

President Barack Obama slammed Donald Trump on Thursday during his remarks at an economic summit in Japan, calling the presumptive Republican nominee ignorant of international matters and obsessed with making headlines.

Obama said world leaders are appropriately “surprised” by Trump’s rhetoric since he announced his candidacy.

“They are rattled by it — and for good reason,” Obama said. “Because a lot of the proposals he has made display either ignorance of world affairs, or a cavalier attitude, or an interest in getting tweets and headlines.”

Obama is spot on in his assessment of how the world views the presumptive Republican nominee.

Since Trump announced his candidacy, international leaders have expressed outrage at many of the Republican candidate’s foreign policy proposals, from banning Muslims and building walls to expanding torture and killing the relatives of terrorists.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has even called some of Trump’s rhetoric and policy proposals “stupid and wrong” and said any potential visit to his country by the Republican candidate “would unite us all against him.”

In a recent poll from YouGov, over 78 percent of foreigners said Trump has made the world less safe. The same percentage said they either “dislike” or “hate” the self-obsessed billionaire.

President Obama’s latest remarks are simply a reflection of how the rest of the world feels about the prospect of a Trump presidency. The fact that he delivered them at an event overseas shows how devoted he is to making sure Donald Trump never occupies the White House.

It should be noted that Barack Obama is currently enjoying his highest approval ratings since his second inauguration in 2013.
