The DNC Just Gave Bernie Sanders The One Major Concession That He Has Always Wanted

Last updated on September 25th, 2023 at 02:01 pm

Sen. Bernie Sanders has stated that he wants to have a major influence on the Democratic platform. Today, the DNC gave him exactly that by awarding the Sanders camp nearly half of the delegates on the Democratic platform committee.

The Washington Post reported:

The two Democratic candidates have agreed with Democratic Party officials to a new apportionment of the 15-member committee that writes the platform, according to Democratic officials familiar with the compromise worked out this month.

Sanders will name five members and Clinton six, based on the number of popular votes each has received to date, one official said. Democratic Party Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will name four. The campaign choices were selected in consultation with the campaigns and the DNC from larger slates of 12 and 10 suggested by the campaigns.

As his chances of winning the Democratic nomination have decreased, Sen. Sanders has consistently stated that he wants to influence the message and the future of the Democratic Party. By making sure that Sanders delegates are going to have a major hand in writing the party’s platform, the Clinton campaign and the DNC are giving Sanders an influential seat at the table.

Sen. Sanders has said that he wants his supporters to be welcomed into the party, and Democrats are showing Sanders and his supporters that the door is open, and their voices will be heard.

All of the media chatter about division among Democrats was empty headline mongering. The endgame for the Sanders campaign is unfolding for all to see. Sen. Sanders is beginning to pave the way for a graceful exit.

After all of the primaries have been held, and the voting is over, it is becoming obvious that the Clinton and Sanders campaigns are going to sit down and come to an agreement on how the party unifies and transitions out of the primary.

Hillary Clinton knows what Bernie Sanders is going through, so she has given him his space, but it looks like Clinton and the Democrats are sending welcoming gestures towards Sanders and his supporters.
