Ted Cruz’s Bad Week Gets Worse As Mike Pence Gives Disastrous Half Hearted Endorsement

Last updated on July 17th, 2023 at 06:56 pm

Ted Cruz’s bad week got worse as the much-hyped endorsement from Indiana Gov. Mike Pence of Ted Cruz turned owt not to be an endorsement at all, but instead a personal expression of support for Cruz.

Pence said that he met with all three of the candidates. He commended Donald Trump , and praised Trump for taking a strong stand on keeping jobs in Indiana, and said that he is grateful for Trump’s voice, but he announced that he was voting for Ted Cruz.

Gov. Pence called himself a Reagan conservative and said that Cruz is a principled conservative who advocates the Reagan agenda. Pence said that he was proud to support him. He said he admired Cruz for standing up to for the taxpayers. He praised Cruz’s anti-choice position.

Gov. Pence said he is supporting Cruz because he is showing the courage of his convictions. Gov. Pence appeared to go out of his way to not fully endorse Ted Cruz. Pence urged every voter to make up their own mind, and said, “Let me be very, very clear on this, Greg whoever wins the Republican nomination I am going to work my heart out to get them elected this fall.”

The Cruz campaign was hyping the Pence announcement as a major endorsement, but Pence never used the word endorsement. He told voters who he was voting for and asked them to make up their own minds. Pence’s “endorsement” felt more like pulling teeth than an enthusiastic backing of Ted Cruz.

For the second time this week, Sen. Cruz’s campaign hyped a major event that turned out not to be so major. Gov. Pence said lots of nice things about Donald Trump and was very measured in his support for Cruz.

Pence didn’t urge Indiana Republicans to vote for Cruz, nor did he suggest that he would be hitting the campaign trail in the state with the Republican candidate. Ted Cruz has no momentum and is increasingly becoming a pathetically delusional figure in the 2016 presidential campaign.
