Ted Cruz Outcrazies Trump By Naming Carly Fiorina His Running Mate After Losing Primaries

Ted Cruz got pummeled in Tuesday’s primary so according to Republican logic the next thing he did was to name Carly Fiorina as his running mate.

WMUR was the first to report:

Sources confirmed to WMUR political director Josh McElveen and political reporter John DiStaso that Fiorina, who has been a supporter of Cruz for several weeks, will be the focus of the announcement that Cruz intends to make in Indiana Wednesday afternoon.

Fiorina dropped out of the presidential race after finishing seventh in the New Hampshire presidential primary on Feb. 9.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO endorsed Cruz a month later, calling him a “leader and a reformer” who is “willing to take on the status quo in Washington.” She has since appeared often as a surrogate for Cruz.

On a day when Donald Trump gave a “foreign policy” speech that made Sarah Palin sound smart , Ted Cruz showed that he is equally out of touch with reality by pulling the ultimate desperation move. Cruz is picking a running mate for a nomination that he may only win if the Republican Party goes to a brokered convention, and Donald Trump doesn’t win on the first ballot.

It is more likely that Trump clinches the nomination, but Cruz is pulling out all of the stops in an attempt to win California. Fiorina was a known for her attacks on Trump during her short-lived presidential campaign and the failed business executive/failed US Senate candidate is viewed as having appeal with California Republican voters.

To put this decision into proper context, Cruz has picked a running mate based on the need to win a primary state. At least, John McCain chose Sarah Palin in an attempt to win the general election. Sen. Cruz has shown himself to be even more shortsighted than Trump.

Just when you think the Republican Party can’t get crazier, Ted Cruz is picking a running mate for a presidential nomination that he may never win.
