Republicans In Chaos As John Kasich Blows Up And Claims Trump Supporters Aren’t Real

Things have gotten so out of control in the Republican Party that presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich is now questioning whether Donald Trump’s supporters are “for real.”

Video:

The bitter divisions in the Republican Party are illustrated by exchanges like the one Republican presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) had with Chuck Todd on Meet The Press.

Transcript:

CHUCK TODD:

But let me ask you, where is the outrage on some of the comments about rabid dogs, on the idea that, you know, I mean, who is standing up on this? What is happening in your party, sir?

GOV. JOHN KASICH:

Chuck, as you know, I’ve been in a virtual war with Donald Trump over these things. I flat out condemn the idea that we were going to have Muslims register. I mean, I can’t help it that maybe he didn’t have a camera out there, but the fact is I condemned it soon as it came out of his mouth, that’s not acceptable.

CHUCK TODD:

So why is it helping? Why is this appealing? Why is it working? Why do you think Trump is working?

GOV. JOHN KASICH:

Well, Chuck, look, I don’t know how much he’s working and I don’t know who they’re surveying and I do believe in polls like you do, but at the same time, who are they surveying? And are these people for real? I don’t think so. I think at the end, when you don’t have experience, when we look at this critical nature of foreign policy.

You know, I listened to a lot of what Leon Panetta had to say, I agree with much of it. Much of it, I’ve already said. And the idea that we’re going to repel an entire group of people on the basis of their religion? It’s nonsense. Look, as you know, I have been in a Twitter war with Donald Trump.

Kasich was not suggesting that the human beings who are supporting Trump don’t exist, but that the Republican Party has been hijacked by a group of pranksters who are supporting Trump in an unserious way.

The frustration demonstrated by Kasich reveals the disconnect between the pseudo-establishment of the Republican Party (Kasich is the guy who wants to set up a Judeo-Christian federal agency to promote “values”) and what their own voters want. Republicans like Kasich can’t understand these people and why they are supporting Trump. The Republican Party is in complete chaos. Donald Trump and Ben Carson are symptoms of a larger disease.

Many Republican voters only want candidates who echo their beliefs. The candidates who best repeat the talking points go straight to the top of the polls. Independent thought or disagreement with the belief system is not tolerated.

The Republican Party is not acting like a party that is in any position to win a national election. The GOP is at war with itself and is being consumed by its own chaos. Donald Trump isn’t the problem. The issue remains and will continue to be that the Republican Party is a total mess.
