Republicans Relive Defeat and Failure as Obama is Sworn in For His Second Term

Last updated on February 8th, 2013 at 12:37 am

The burn and sting that Republicans were feeling today as they watched Obama take the oath of office is a reminder of their crushing defeat and failure.

Watch President Obama begin his second term with the his official swearing in as President of the United States.

Here is the video:

It was the moment that Republicans worked every minute of the day to stop. It was also a moment that they also dreaded as deep in the dark corners of their minds, they felt the inevitability. When Barack Obama took the oath of office for his second time as president today it represented the success of the changing face of America, and the failure of the old guard to recapture power that may be forever gone.

The corporate billionaires threw in their pocket change millions. The white conservatives bubbled over with venom and rage. The South tried to muster its political strength. The old Republicans promised that this time these new young faces would not vote.

They dreamed. They conspired. They even invented polls that they thought would twist their visions of victory into reality.

In the end, here we are again. Barack Obama, the man they spent every waking second of the last four years trying to defeat, once again is their president.

Obama was able to again take this oath because of millions of Americans who didn’t go along with the plan. While the right was telling itself that anybody could defeat Obama, a majority was working hard to make sure that no one defeated Obama.

When Obama was sworn in for his second term, it was reminder to right wing billionaires that the presidency is not for sale. It was reminder to Republicans that the negative politics of obstruction had failed. It was a reminder to the people that they can make a difference. It was a reminder that hope and change are great ideals, but what we are fighting for is the future of the country.

Most of all, it was a reminder that for the next four years, Barack Obama will be our president.
