Conservative talk show host Neal Boortz blamed a Florida 16 year old girl’s club yearbook photo that accidentally exposed her private parts on her weight. Boortz said, “If she wasn’t overweight the visible panty line wouldn’t be a problem.”
Here is the audio from Media Matters:
The incident in question involves a 16 year old high school junior at Sickles High School in Citrus Park, Florida who is too embarrassed to go back to school after her private parts were accidentally exposed in a club yearbook photo. The girl’s mother is demanding that all of the yearbooks containing the picture be rounded up, destroyed, and new yearbooks be issued without the picture.
Boortz blamed the girl’s weight for the situation, “This 16 year old girl at Sickles High School in Tampa, Florida. First of all, she’s a little hefty. She’ s still young enough that she hasn’t blimped up to the point that she is deserving of being an object of ridicule, but she is a little hefty, and her mom is a blimp, but this does play in here. ”
He then broke down step by step the decision making process of the 16 year old girl who was trying to avoid a panty line, but ended up with her private parts exposed. Boortz said that the girl has learned the consequences of bad decision making. In the same segment Boortz later said, “If she wasn’t overweight the visible panty line wouldn’t be a problem.”
I don’t think this incident has anything to do with her weight. Boortz is an idiot for trying to blame this on the size of the young lady. I really hope that Boortz doesn’t have kids, because with his attitude, they are going to need decades of therapy. The hypocrisy here is that Boortz himself is no prize. In fact, some have noted in the past that he is pretty damn ugly.
The girl in the photo is caught up in a high school nightmare, and the last thing she needs is some mentally challenged talker discussing her weight. I do think that the girl has to go back to school sometime, because if she doesn’t, she will never get past this. I don’t think that there is a reason for her family to sue. It was an unintended accident on everyone’s part.
The yearbooks have been handed out, and the damage has been done. I think everyone involved should be more focused on helping this kid through the situation than pursing legal options.
